About the book πŸ“•

These Perfectly Careless Things is a spicy, coming-of-age novel set in London in 2010.

Abbie Chesterton is fifteen, at one of the poshest all-girls schools in London, and has no idea who she wants to be. The boys are fit but awful, her best friend has run off with her ex, and the only thing that makes any sense is the folder of magazine cutouts under her bed, which she hasn’t shown to a single person.

Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets the enigmatic Jonah Wood, an American whom she’s vaguely known from growing up in her neighborhood, Notting Hill. Jonah is strange, but his intellect charms her. Plus, he believes in her. Abbie must create the perfect portfolio to secure a spot at Jonah's more prestigious school. But blinded by ambition, she risks losing everything, including the only friend who has stuck by her side, her bus-buddy, Julie. When Abbie realizes how much Jonah has changed her, it may already be too late.

Ideal for fans of Skins, Euphoria, and Sally Rooney. I started writing this novel when I was fourteen. Yes, it took me a while.

"I missed this book when I reached the end - it was such fun! The author's voice and narration: both her writing style and her actual voice on Audible are enjoyable. Doherty's portrayal of the UK privileged life, combined with teenage sexual and social angst, was captivating and insightful." β€” Alexandra, Amazon

"Such a beautifully written coming-of-age story that made me travel in space and time all the way to London of 15 or so years ago." β€” Oksana, Goodreads
